Description from their press release: "Run, don’t walk, to the Seventh Annual Pet Fest and Doggy Dash 2008! The event will take place at Memorial Park in Chula Vista’s Third Avenue Village on Saturday, June 21, from 8a.m. to 1p.m.
Pet Fest promises to be the premier pet event this year, featuring a 1.5 mile run/walk, blessing of the animals, pet adoptions, and pet related vendors and services. The Chula Vista Police Dogs and the Chula Vista Fire Department FEMA dog will showcase their talents in presentations.
The Doggy Dash will kick off at 9a.m. Fees are $12 per entry. Participants for the Dash will receive a free Pet Fest & Doggy Dash 2008 t-shirt. All pets must be leashed to participate.
If you are thinking about a furry friend for your home; what about adopting? The Chula Vista Animal Care Facility will be on-site with a list of adoptable dogs and cats that are waiting to find a loving home. Many dogs and cats from this event will be available for adoption. Shelter representatives will be available to answer your questions about pet adoption and pet care.
The Pet Fest will also feature licensing, an adorable pet fashion show, music, pet and human food, contests, and much more. All proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility.

Description from the event organizer: "More than 10,000 Hispanics attendants will enjoy food from El Salvador especially the most popular a tortilla called PUPUSA, which is stuffed with cheese, refried beans and other fillings such as beef or pork rinds then grilled and served with spicy pickled cabbage and hot sauce.
At this free Fair you will find different type of Salvadorian food such as: fried plantain (a type of green banana), fried beans with rice (casamiento), cheese or cream, coffee, rice and beans, steak or chicken, salad and tropical fruit such as mangoes, watermelon or jocotes, a deep-red, pitted fruit. Beans and rice, a meat dish and fruit. Arroz, a rich yellow rice, is a common dish, as are pollo dorado (roasted golden chicken), carne asada (roast meat, usually beef), and pollo or carne encebollado (chicken or meat stewed with vegetables). Mariscada is a type of fish stew that includes lobster, crab, shrimp and other fish. Pasteles, which are pockets of corn flour dough stuffed with meat, worked into a crescent shape and deep-fried.
Drinks are coffee and hot chocolate. Licuados and refrescos (fruit drinks) are also popular. Horchata and cebada are barley-based drinks with cinnamon.
