Description from the organizers: "The 20th annual Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee will be presented July 9-13, 2008. This family musical event features many types of Jazz: Cajun, Big Band, Swing, 50'S-60'S R&R, Dixieland, and Straight Ahead Jazz. Come and enjoy the breathtaking scenery and fresh air while experiencing the spectacular High Sierra mountains that become filled with the sounds from some of the world's finest musicians. We call it "Jazz with Altitude". Most of the 10 music venues are in two areas of town-along Old Mammoth Road and in the Village area. Some are small indoor areas, but most are located under large tents. Food and drink are available for purchase, chairs are provided, and many locations have dance floors. Come listen to our "free" shows from 3-7pm Thursday July 10th. A special feature of this event is our Jazz Camp for 13-17 year olds. We are proud to be one of the few festivals of this type to provide a week long camp for students to learn how to "improvise". We will feature these campers on stage both Friday & Saturday. Try to come to one of their stes, you will be amazed at their talent. Something special for our 20th anniversary will be a Friday morning parade featuring the bands playing at the Jubilee. Also, expect "special" sets throughout the weekend such as "pianorama" where piano players play solo for 1/2 a set.You may hear ragtime, boobie woogie, and just about any other style of music. Music listening hours are from approximately the following: Wed. from 7-10:30pm, Thurs. from 3-11pm, Fri. from 12:30pm-1am, Sat. from 9:30am-1am, Sun. from 8:30am-5:30pm. For those who can't get enough and are not ready to stop hearing great music, we will have "Extra Jazz after dark" from 6:30-9:30pm Sunday for an extra charge. "All Jubilee" badges are currently on sale until March 3rd for $75.00, until May 1st for $80.00, and after May 1st for $85.00-the same price as at the gate. Children under 12 are free when accompanied with an adult. Youth badges (13-17) are only $10. 00 for the whole weekend, and college age (18-22) are $40 for the weekend. At this free Fair you will find different type of Salvadorian food such as: fried plantain (a type of green banana), fried beans with rice (casamiento), cheese or cream, coffee, rice and beans, steak or chicken, salad and tropical fruit such as mangoes, watermelon or jocotes, a deep-red, pitted fruit. Beans and rice, a meat dish and fruit. Arroz, a rich yellow rice, is a common dish, as are pollo dorado (roasted golden chicken), carne asada (roast meat, usually beef), and pollo or carne encebollado (chicken or meat stewed with vegetables). Mariscada is a type of fish stew that includes lobster, crab, shrimp and other fish. Pasteles, which are pockets of corn flour dough stuffed with meat, worked into a crescent shape and deep-fried.
Drinks are coffee and hot chocolate. Licuados and refrescos (fruit drinks) are also popular. Horchata and cebada are barley-based drinks with cinnamon.

Description from press release : "Featured Performer: Trick Roper James Barrera -- The 29th Annual Joaquin Murrieta Ride (JMR) is a three-day extravaganza in which an estimated 300 “jinetes” or horse people will participate in California’s largest horseback ride.  The ride begins on Friday, July 25th and ends on Sunday, July 27th.   The Ride concludes with a special Sunday afternoon ceremony, entertainment and award presentations in a new location adjacent to Three Rocks.  The Sunday program is expected to draw upwards to 1,000 spectators.  This California spectacle attracts international media, history buffs, local politicians and interested members of the community."
